The - proprietor of the Christiansted Theatre asks to express his sincere apol- ogies for any disappointment expeiienced by patrons of the show of last night for which there had been advertised but not presented the conclusion of the "'Carter Case’’, owing to the reels not having ar- rived from St. Thomas from where they wore dispatehed bv the mail-schvoner yesterday. The theatre was crowded last night when the 14th. episode of the famous “Oarter Case’’ and two episodes ot the “Qecret of the Submarine’” comprised a veéry attractive program ne. It is expect- ed to exhibit the iast parts of the '‘(Car- ter Case’’ on Monday nig t next. There is littie breeze at present and it is unlikely that she will be here today. An unusual calm has prevailed during the last few days. A partial paralvsis in the fish industry is reported from Wat,, Gut where it was mentioned some time ago that the sale had been prohibited,all the flshermen from that quarter being required to use the fish-hcuse near the fort. The men hold that it is a great inconvenience to them to trade fisk so far away from their homes where they have special facilities, and to this end a petiticn was forwarded to overnment for permission to con- tinue o offer their fish in the old place or for the erection of a fish-house In_that quarter. For the latter purpose it 18 understood that Mr. John Richard Leevy has very kindly placed a plot of land in Water Gut at disposal. It is empbasized that not alone is the fish-house near the fort too small and therefore too much congested by all the boats landing there but the patronage from the WNater Gut quarter is practicaily cut off sirce rhe divorsion of the boats to this end. London, Uct. 14th.—Gabriel D’Annun- zio, Commander of Fiume, is quoted hy the correspondent of the Times at rhat place as saying, with respect to the Adriatic situation: ‘Ishall immediately occupy any territory heid now by the Italian Army and Navy should “the Govt. consent to evacuate it. 1 have ample forces at my disposal to do this and it is known positively that the Italian forces occupying the territcry of Istria and Dal- matia will refuse $o cbey the Govt. and will accept my leadership. London, Oct. 14th.—The high cost of living in England is, at an end. ''The war boom is over’’, according to the Lon- don newspapers which announced the fact with prominently displayed stream- ers across their front pages. They indi- cate the English are optimistic of giving the knockout blow very soon to the re- maining high prices. During the last six months the average fall in prices on war materials has beer 30 percent. Rub- ber products have come down 50 percent, tin has tumbled 25, copper 6, merino wool 45 and America cotton 3U percent. The only sensational decline among sta- ple foods however, was the 30 percent drop in the price of sugar, Londen, QOct. 16th.—Investigations by Scctiand Yard officials of forged Bank of England pound wnotes incline the experts te believe that they are part ofa Bol- sheviki ploi to destroy the confidenca of pations in the money of the world. Tests of notes show they cannot be detecied from real money except by the careful inspection of ex- perts It is reported from the same sources that furnished the evidence lin this matter, that the Reds printing house sould flood the world with forged mney of ail nations. Evidence lis piling _up which corroborates the reports sent out from Petrograd months ago that the Soviets had determined to take from all nations confidence in their money, throwicg up the people back on a straight gold basis. As there would not be gold to meet the commercial require- ments of business, this course would effecinally blick the wheels of industry.
