ACTNO. 6'799 BILL NO. 26-0126 TWENTY-SIXTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2005 To amend title 24 Virgin Islands Code, section 309, subsection (i), relative to the collection of delinquent and contested contribution-Interest on past- -due contributions and other related purposes --0-- WHEREAS, Public Law No. 108-295 or the State. Unemployment Tax Act Dumping Prevention Act of 2004 (“SUTA”) was signed into law gn August 9, 2004; and WHEREAS, Public Law No. 108-295 amended the Social Security Act by adding section 303(k) to establish a nationwide minimum standard for curbing SUTA dumping, and WHEREAS, the Virgin Islands Department of Labor must amend its Unemployment Insurance Program to conform with the new national legislation and to be effective within our next “rate year” that begins on January 1, 2006 and not withstanding any other provision of law; Now therefore, BE IT ENACTED by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1.
