Webster, the owner of Island Laundries, a St. Thomas commercial laundry and dry-cleaning operation, ventured into the hotel and conference facility industries when he opened Palms Court Harborview in 1996. The facility hosted many local events, conferences and served as an entertainment venue. Today, Palms Court Harborview provides extended residential services. “Mr. Webster generously offered the complimentary use of a public meeting room at Palms Court for local non-profit organizations, church groups and others,” Governor Mapp said. “This was just one of his many kind and civic-minded efforts, but something that made a tremendous difference over the years.” Mr. Webster was an active member of the Virgin Islands business community for nearly four decades. “We pause to acknowledge the passing of this fine Virgin Islander and extend profound sympathies to those bereaved, especially our colleague Lisa Webster Potter,” the Governor said. Mr. Webster is the father of the Government House Chief of Protocol, Lisa Webster Potter. Oliver McCoy Webster is survived by his wife Lorna, three children, seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
