OF THE COLONIAL COUNCIL FOR ST. CROIX. AT one o’clock p. m. Monday, April 14, 1974, the Colonial Council of St, Croix held Its 6th Ordinary Meeting in the Coloniai Council Hall in Chrisiiansted. Present: The Chairman [Robf L. Merwin), D. H. .Jackson, H. Berg, Robt. W. Skeaoch, A. J. Blackwond, F. Ander- sen, ¥, Coulter, W. H. Fleming, Jos. Alexander, W. S. Abramson and Holger Jessen. Absent, 20d Apnointed Member (Noll), d'h Appointed Member (Me Intosh), 4th Member for Christiansted Country Dis- trict (Ramsay). and 3rd Member for Fredeniksted Countty Distriet (M. M. Skeoch). In connection witl: the introduction of this lezislation,I may remarck that the Colenial Council of St. Croix, nn May 22, 1922, passed an Ordinanc: -which ex- empted Insurance and assuranee com- paies doing business in tue Municipali- ty of 3t. Croix, from theiprovisions of the Code of Laws relating to the regis- tration of foreign corporations, and from the fees to be paid therefor, and as the Government is now introducing to the Colenial Council of St. Thomas and St. John, legislation designed to similarly , exempt insurance and assurance com- panies doing business in St. Thomas and St. John, itis believed advisable to pro- vide a simplified procedure for the re- gistration of such insurance and assur- ance companies, which would not be difficult for the compaunies in question to comply with, and at the same time en- able a proper record to be kept of all corporations doing business within the Municipality. The Chairman: 1 have to bring to your notice the adoption of the minutes for the meeting held 7 February., Any one having objeciion to those minutes will please state them and I will take a vote as to such objections. To be continued. LOCAL The Song Service held on Sunday night last at the Lutneran Church was weil artended. The choir was at its best and deserves congratuiations. The sacred cantata ‘'The Lord is Ris- en’’ was rendered by the choir of tae Moravian Church of this town on Sun- day night and proved a grand success, a pleasant time oveing spent by a large gathering. Congratulations to all coon- cerned.
