New York, July 4th.—-The total gate receipts for the Dempsey Carpentier boxing contest amounted to $1,623,3890. Tex Richard, promoter of the fight an- nounced tonight. Leeds, England, July 4th.—ln the third test mateh between the Australians and the All England Cricket teams, England completed i's first innings for 259 runs against Ausftralias 407 for thefirst in- nings. A fine ctand by Douglas and Tennyson just enabled them to follow on, and thus gave their side the possibility of making adraw of the mateh.
