SECTION V: JOB PERFORMANCE 30. inno more than 150 words, please outline in priority order your four (4) specific short-term and four (4) specific long-term goals and objectives you would employ to achieve the entity's purpose and improve its service delivery system if your nomination is confirmed for this position. 1. Within the first 60 days of my tenure, | intend to properly staff the Department of Tourism by filling long-standing vacancies that are affecting the productivity of the Department. Onboarding of new employees began on September 8, 2025. 2. I intend to focus on the Visitors Experience by fully reinstituting the Greeters program, hiring Directors of Visitors Experience in each district and providing extensive Customer Service and Cultural History training for all DOT staff. Encouraging tourists to come here is key but the experience has to be exceptional in such a competitive environment. Also, understanding that locafs are also tourists via staycations is important. 3. Within the first 60 days, it will be critical to meet with key community, regional, national and international stakeholders to determine how the DOT can continue to flourish on the competitive world stage. I have already met with the USVI Hotel and Tourism Association, Our Town Frederiksted and other local organizations. 4. Continue to engage and stay top-of-mind through aviation, cruise, festival, travel trade, sales, in-market events, and tourism-related organizations, such as the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), the US Travel Association, and Destinations International. The engagements began immediately. 5. Continue to elevate the territory’s “Three Reasons to Fete” campaign which is an essential pillar of the destination’s tourism sector. The 2025 Carnival season underscored the U.S. Virgin Islands’ continued growth as a hub for cultural celebration and economic impact across all three islands. 6. As the Department continues to promote the territory globally, we recognize the importance of community connectivity and supporting local partners throughout the tourism industry. Now in its second year, the Destination Optimization program has expanded significantly, with nearly 700 local businesses fully tisted on VisitUSVI.com and Google—up from just 200 at the program’s launch. In the coming fiscal year, the program will focus on the St. Croix district, elevating local businesses by providing support and education on industry standards to maximize their visibility to visitors.
