April 21 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – Governor Albert Bryan Jr., issued a proclamation Monday recognizing “National Crime Victims’ Rights Week,” which is celebrating its 40 th anniversary from April 18-24 and now is an initiative of the federal Office for Victims of Crime, a division within the U.S. Department of Justice. This year’s theme is “Support Victims. Build Trust. Engage Communities.” The purpose of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is to raise awareness of victims’ rights and services, highlight programs for crime victims and honor victims and the professionals who serve them. Governor Bryan said his proclamation reaffirms the Territory’s commitment to creating a victim services and criminal justice response that assists all victims of crime, and he expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to those members of the community who are victim service providers and to the criminal justice professionals who are committed to improving our response to all victims of crime. The Bryan-Roach Administration is committed to transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government and ensuring the disaster recovery is completed as quickly as possible.
