We are glad however, to state that the remarks attributed to him are without foundation. Never more surprised than to find himself figuring in print, and in such wise, Licutenant Pettigrew upon learning the situation, immediately fook steps to counteract the evil impression made by th-publication, by calling upon, and speaking the matter over, with those concerned. —St. Thowas MailNotes, Dce. 11th. * : MISSIONARY FESTIVAL AT EM- MAUS, St. JOHN On Sunday, December 7, a Missicnary Festival was held at the Moravian Church at Emmaus, St. John. The mora'ng opened brightly. and the weather contin- ued fair throughout the day. The morn- ing service was conducted by the Rev. Geo. F. Penn, pastor of the congrega- tion. The Scripture Lessons were read by the Rev. D. E. Philips of Nisky. who also delivered the Missionary sermon. At the beginning of the service thare was but a handful of people, but towards the middle, many put in their appearznce, These were chiefly from the East Erd of the island who generally travel by sail- ing hoats.
