It isright to the point. It hits the nail squarely on the head. The eultivation of [and in St. Croix is absolutely necessary at this time. Every inch of ground that can produce anything should be placed in cultivation. Apd if these lands remain idle. iand- owners should see like others do, that the waters are crowding in on prosperily in St. Croix. Yield to the squatters at a rate upon which it will be prodtable for them to work the ground. It would seem to be more of a patriotic spirit, torent land for a little, than to leave it lying in waste. , In New York quite recently such enormous prices were placed on land from time to time, that the Legislature had to take drastic action against further rent profitzering by passing a law pro- hibiting the rent of land and property at a maximum figure arranged by them. There is in St. Croix a legislative tody of which Mr. Abramson I believeis a mamber. It would not be a bad idea to introduce such a bill for passage there, and it seems to me that as Mr. Abramson has the power, he ought to use it. N, BT st, Thomas News Lr.
