We have bzen informed that the chil- dren of the public and private schools will do honor to Washington’s Birthday by rendering a program on the Public Green, near the Wharf, from 3.30 p. m. Patriotic songs will be sung, accompanied by the Navy Band and an oration given in houor of the day. The program is as follows. 1. Besides this member is also encouraging lawlessness by putting up a-notice to hie shop coor that he will buy chickens at 30¢ per 1b.., when him- self (asI have been told) has made it unlawfu! for anyone to sell for more than 25c. per pound, thereby meaking those who sell to him answerable to the law. I trust this will cause him to adopt a more truthtul and wiser policy in the future. On Monday afternoon, January 3lst, Mr. Emile A. Berne gave his daughter, Carmen Helen, in marriage to Lindsey (George Gallaher, Private U. S. Marine Corps. The ceremony was u very private af- fair, only the family of the bride and Private George Sitter, the best man, being present. Father Field who shave arrived on Friday last with His Lordship the Bishop of Pto. Rico and the Virgin Islands Father Field (English born) belongs to the Order of St. John the Evangelist, Oxford, but for 25 years has been locat- ed at the branch of this Order in Bos- ton, Mass. The Revd. Father has known the ahsen: Bishop of Antigua for a good many years. ' The Revd. gentlemen preached at both services yesterday in All Saints’ Angiican Church and it was an ounced that the mission for which he h.s come will begin on the 27th, inst., when the Bishop of the Diocese hopes to return.
