November 17 Peter Dolara is the former Senior Vice President for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America for American Airlines U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. issued the following statement on the passing of longtime American Airlines executive Peter J. Dolara: “I was saddened to learn of the passing of Peter Dolara and join the people of the Virgin Islands, the Caribbean and the American Airlines family in mourning a man who reshaped air service throughout our region. “Peter spent more than four decades at American Airlines and rose to serve as senior vice president for Miami, Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. He played a central role in the growth of American’s Miami hub and its network across the Caribbean and Latin America. His work helped establish American as a leading United States carrier in this part of the world. “St. Croix held a special place in his work and in his life. Peter understood the importance of reliable air service for our residents, our tourism economy and small businesses. He was one of the earliest advocates for maintaining steady service into Henry E. Rohlsen Airport and supported efforts to ensure the island had dependable access to Miami. His support allowed St. Croix to remain connected to key markets during times when that access was uncertain. “Peter’s relationship with St. Croix went beyond business. He visited often, met with local leaders and spent time getting to know the community. His approach earned the trust of many Crucians who saw him as more than an airline executive. They saw him as a friend of the island. “His colleagues called him ‘El Jefe.’ We will remember him as a pioneer of Caribbean air service, a strong advocate for St. Croix and a valued partner of the Virgin Islands. “On behalf of the people and Government of the Virgin Islands, I extend my condolences to Peter’s family, his friends and the American Airlines team. The connections he built and the opportunities he created across the Caribbean will continue to honor his memory.” ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
