December 29 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS— Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan Jr. issued the following statement mourning the passing of retired Judge Audrey Thomas-Francis: “It is with profound sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and all who are mourning the passing of retired Superior Court Judge Audrey Thomas-Francis. A distinguished former assistant U.S. attorney and later a venerable judge in the Virgin Islands Superior Court’s Family Division, Judge Thomas-Francis was a pillar of strength and wisdom within our judicial system and community. “Throughout her illustrious career, Judge Thomas-Francis played an integral role in the growth and development of the Virgin Islands Judiciary. Her unwavering commitment to justice and her compassionate understanding of the human spirit were evident in every ruling she made and in every life she touched. “Beyond the courtroom, Judge Thomas-Francis contributed significantly to our community. Her dedication to nurturing future legal minds was apparent through her support of the annual moot court competition. She inspired many young individuals to pursue careers in law and imbued them with the courage to seek justice. As a member of the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees, she was instrumental in shaping policies and initiatives that have propelled our educational institution forward. “Judge Thomas-Francis’s legacy is one of service, excellence, and an enduring commitment to the Virgin Islands. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on our judiciary and community, and her memory will continue to inspire us all. “In this moment of mourning, let us find comfort in her remarkable legacy and commit ourselves to upholding the values she championed throughout her life. May her soul rest in eternal peace.” ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
