s/AWCJR AMENDMENT TO BILL NO. 36-0109 Offered by Senator Angel L. Bolques, Jr. Bill No. 36-0109 is amended as follows: (a) In section 1, internal section 3100hh, subsection (c), strike all the language after “personnel” and insert the following language: “costs and other expenses necessary to administer and enforce the motor vehicle inspections, safety, and emissions requirements authorized under title 20 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 41.” (b) In section 3, internal subsection (g), in the second sentence, strike “2024” and insert “2026”. (c) Add SECTION 5: “SECTION 5. Title 20 Virgin Islands Code, part II, chapter 33 is amended as follows: (a) in section 332, subsection (a), designate the existing language as paragraph (1) and add paragraphs (2) and (3): “(2) The Director may offer a registrant the option to renew a motor vehicle registration for a period of not less than one year and not more than five years. …

(3) The Director shall establish, by regulation, the fee schedule, eligibility criteria, and administrative procedures governing the issuance, 2 renewal, suspension, and termination of multi-year motor vehicle registrations.” (b) add section 342: “§ 342. Late registration penalty (a) A motor vehicle registration that is not renewed on or before its expiration date is delinquent. (b) The Director shall assess a late registration fee against any registrant who fails to timely register a motor vehicle. The amount, structure, and method of assessment of the fee shall be established by regulation and shall be reasonable and applied uniformly to all delinquent registrants. (c) No motor vehicle registration may be renewed until all applicable late registration fees have been paid in full." Amendment No. 36-665/January 29, 2026/GC
