Those locations were owned by and licensed to the same individual. At that time, the department informed the public that it would provide further information as it becomes known. Information since provided to the department by MoneyGram corporate indicates that MoneyGram has terminated its relationship with the individual that operated the specified money transmission services in the Virgin Islands. The department is in the process exploring the legal options available regarding its licensure of the individual at issue. The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs again informs the public that no funds belonging to consumers in the Virgin Islands, whether sent or received, were adversely affected by the circumstances that led to the suspension and subsequent termination of MoneyGram Services for the individual at issue. Going forward, Moneygram has informed the department that it is in the process of vetting other entities to provide money transfer services in the company’s name. In the meantime, the department reiterates to the public that MoneyGram services at the Caribbean Travel Agency in Havensight, St. Thomas and In Touch, LLC located at Sub Base and Estate Thomas in St. Thomas remain open to serve the general public with their money transfer business. Unfortunately, MoneyGram services are not, at this time, available on the islands of St. Croix or St. John. If there are any questions or concerns regarding the information provided herein, kindly call the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs at the following numbers: 713.3522 on St. Croix; 714.3522 on St. Thomas.
