November 10, 2025 The Honorable Senators of the 35th Legislature Government of the Virgin Islands St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands RE: Testimony in Recognition of Ms. Janeisha John Good Evening Honorable Senators and members of the community, Thank you for the opportunity to provide testimony in recognition of Ms. Janeisha John. My name is Trinity Austrie, and I have had the honor of calling Janeisha my friend for over twenty-five years. When Janeisha and I were in college at the University of the Virgin Islands, I remember her saying, “One day, my name is going to be a school.” And I didn’t laugh, I didn’t question it, and I didn’t ask her who she thought she was. Even at 19, I understood that her saying that was not an exaggeration of confidence, it was simply in alignment with who she was destined to be. Her ambition was always rooted in service, pride, and deep love for the Virgin Islands. …

Over the years, I have watched her journey up close, from UVI to pageants, to television, to becoming a senior marketing executive for one of the fastest-growing streaming platforms in the United States. Throughout each chapter, she has reinvented her platform without ever losing her identity. She did not brand herself with gimmicks or controversy. She branded herself with home. She is “janeisha_missvi” not as a tagline, but as a cultural passport. Wherever she goes, the Virgin Islands arrives with her. There has been much discussion, as of late, about whether one must return home in order to serve home. I believe there is more than one way to carry the Virgin Islands forward. Some of us, like myself, remain physically rooted here. Others take our stories, our culture, and our brilliance into the wider world, and in doing so, we expand the reach of the Virgin Islands. Janeisha has done exactly that. Because of her, students have received scholarships. The Virgin Islands people have seen themselves represented globally. Millions of viewers have learned our history, our beauty, and our voice simply by watching her show up in the world as her full, authentic self. I want to be very clear: Janeisha John is not becoming the person we hoped she would be, she is the person she said she would be. This recognition is not only deserved, it is timely. It honors her accomplishments, yes, but it also honors her continued impact. Her story is still being written, and I fully expect the next chapters to reflect even greater contributions to culture, media, and to the Virgin Islands she holds so close. Janeisha, I am proud of you. We are proud of you. And you are, in every way, exactly who you think you are. Respectfully, Trinity Austrie
