The program provides opportunities to selected eligible high school students with academic potential who are interested in academic instruction through classroom instruction, individual and small group tutorials, individual and small group counseling, college admission information, and cultural, social, recreational, activities to its participants. Upward Bound Program at the University of the Virgin Islands is designed to generate the skills and motivation for academic success in high school and beyond. Upward Bound seeks to help students who have academic ability but who may not have the preparation, motivation or opportunity to realize or demonstrate their full potential, and go on to earn a four year degree at a institution of higher learning. Academic Year 2006-2007 November 2007 Intended Administrative Objectives (1) Graduating high school seniors will begin a four year degree at an institution of higher learning the Fall Semester immediately following completion of high school curriculum. (2) Students attending the Upward Bound Program will have improved standardized test scores between pre-tests given at the beginning of the academic year and post tests given at the end of the academic year. (3) Students attending the Upward Bound Program will be satisfied with the counseling services provided during the academic year. 2007 ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR (Administrative or Educational Support Unit (Assessment Period Covered) (Date Submitted) Intended Administrative or Educational Support Objective: (1) Graduating high school seniors will begin a four year degree at an institution of higher learning the Fall Semester immediately following completion of high school curriculum. NOTE: There should be one form C for each intended objective listed on form B. The intended unit objective should be stated in the box immediately below and the strategic thrust number entered in the blank spaces. First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above: 1. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success: 90% of the high school seniors will enroll in a Bachelors program at an institution of higher learning immediately following completion of their high school curriculum. 2. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: 3. Use of Results to Improve Unit Services: Form C-1 Upward Bound Program at the University of the Virgin Islands Upward Bound Program at the University of the Virgin Islands Academic Year 2006-2007 November 2007 2007 ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR (Administrative or Educational Support Unit (Assessment Period Covered) (Date Submitted) Intended Administrative or Educational Support Objective: (2) Students attending the Upward Bound Program will have improved standardized test scores by 35% between pre-tests given at the beginning of the academic year and post tests given at the end of the academic year. No individual item on the questionnaire will reflect students being very dissatisfied with counseling services; while having mean responses in each area below neutral (3.0). NOTE: There should be one form C for each intended objective listed on form B. The intended unit objective should be stated in the box immediately below and the strategic thrust number entered in the blank spaces. First Means of Assessment for Objective Identified Above: 1. Means of Unit Assessment & Criteria for Success: Evaluation form of academic year identifying satisfaction with the counseling services received for the period. 2.
