R. 5029] The Committee on Territories and Insular Affairs, to which was referred the bill (H. R. 5029) to assist in the internal development of the Virgin Islands by the undertaking of useful projects therein, and for other purposes, having considered the same, reports favorably thereon with amendments and recommends that the bill as amended do pass. On page 2, line 6, after the word ‘‘project’, strike out the period and insert a colon and the following: Provided further, That items 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 14, 16, and 17 shall have priority over others of the projects on the islands of St. Thomas and St. John, and items 19, 20, 22, 27, and 29 shall have priority over others of the projects on the island of St. …

R. 5029] The Committee on Territories and Insular Affairs, to which was referred the bill (H. R. 5029) to assist in the internal development of the Virgin Islands by the undertaking of useful projects therein, and for other purposes, having considered the same, reports favorably thereon with amendments and recommends that the bill as amended do pass. On page 2, line 6, after the word ‘‘project’, strike out the period and insert a colon and the following: Provided further, That items 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 14, 16, and 17 shall have priority over others of the projects on the islands of St. Thomas and St. John, and items 19, 20, 22, 27, and 29 shall have priority over others of the projects on the island of St. Croix: Provided further, That funds shall be available for the purposes specified in section 2 on other projects without regard to the priorities so established. On page 7, line 11, after “$10,028,420” insert a comma and ‘‘$2,028,- 420 to be available in 1945, and $2,000,000 in each of the following four years, each yearly sum to remain available until expended,” and strike out the following: ‘to be immediately available and to remain available until expended,”’.
