RAR R ARSR THE REPORT Os THE VIRGIN IS- LANDS AGRICULTURAL EXPERI- MENT STATION FORTHE YEAR 1919, a“ 16 page pamphlet, is now being cir- culated and we beg to express our / thanks for the copy sent us. While chiefly of interest to those connected with agriculture and farming, the report, covering the activities of the Experi- ment Station at Anna’s Hope, compiied by Dr. Longfield Smith, Agronomist in Charge, contains, much that will be found interesting to the general reader. It furnishes valuable data regarding pro- duction in St Croix, St. Themas, and St. Jan, disclosing that important research ®vork is being carried on at the Station. A few well printed plates showing se- lected specimens of cane, corn, grass, potatoes, etc. add tone anda touch of completeness to the report. COLBETH-WHELPLEY WEDDING. The above heading appeared in The Sunday Call, Newark, N. J., of February 27th. 1921, announcing the marriage on the previous Tuesday, of Miss Helen Whelpley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Whelpley, of 434 Fourth Avenue, and Milton Colbeth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur M. Berlin, Marech 18th. —The recent euntry of some armed British ships in German harbours, it was announced in'the Reich- stag today is seriously engaging the ac- tention of the German people in view of the gravity of the pri~ciple involved. Chancellor Fehrenbach urged the speady passage of the disarmament bill, warn- ing that delay, for whicia neither he nor the Govt. could take responsibility, would entail danger A Reichstas Com mittee is discussing the messure, Moutreal, March 18th.—Mr. Teakle, General Manager of the Canadian Govt. Merchant Marine, announced today that Montreai, instead of Halifax would be the starting point during the summer season for the Companv’s recertly estab- lished combined ecargo dand passenger service to the West Indies and Briiish ‘Honduras. This deecisicn means that the C. G. M. M. will maintain no less than eleven distinet secvices out of ¥Mont real this year. Mr. Teakle stated some time ago that the West Indian sarvice would probably continue to be operated during the summer with Halifax as the homeé port, considering that the longer distance would interfere witp the regular three weeks’ schedule *which had been promised the ecargo shippers. Since the inauguration of the ser- vice of January 25th., however, both the Canadian Fisher and .Canadian Fores- ter, the two new vessels placed on the run, have shown that they are capable of greater speed than was anticipated and it has been found possible to cut down their time in the various ports.
