May 13 Virgin Islands flags on government buildings will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Wednesday, May 13, in tribute to former Senator Bell’s life, service, and legacy U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has ordered that all Virgin Islands flags on government buildings throughout the Territory be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in honor of former Senator John A. Bell Sr. Former Senator Bell served the people of the Virgin Islands for six terms in the Legislature of the Virgin Islands. He was also a United States Army veteran, counselor, public servant, party leader, and respected community advocate whose life reflected a deep commitment to service, civic duty, and the advancement of the Virgin Islands. “Former Senator John A. Bell Sr. gave a meaningful portion of his life to serving others, and our Territory is better because of that service,” Governor Bryan said. “He served his country in uniform, he served the people of the Virgin Islands in public office, and he served his community with purpose, conviction, and care. His legacy is part of the story of a generation of Virgin Islanders who helped shape our civic life and strengthen the foundation on which we continue to build.” Governor Bryan extended his condolences to the Bell family, his friends, former colleagues, loved ones, and all who mourn his passing. “On behalf of the Government of the Virgin Islands and a grateful Territory, I extend heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of former Senator Bell,” Governor Bryan said. “As we lower the Virgin Islands flag in his honor, we do so with respect for his life, gratitude for his service, and recognition of the legacy he leaves in the hearts of those he served.” All Government of the Virgin Islands agencies and departments are directed to lower the Virgin Islands flag on government buildings to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
