Dr. Calvin D. Jamison, Sr. Dr. Calvin D. Jamison, Sr. is a native of Martinsville, Virginia. He completed his formal education in public schools in Martinsville-Henry County, Virginia. He completed his B.S., M.A. and Ed. D degrees from Virginia Tech. He has over 25 years of experience in higher education, corporate America, and local government. He is presently the Vice President for Business Affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas, and is a Clinical Professor in the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences. Prior to assuming his present role, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Hampton University. Most recently, he served on SACS accreditation and NCAA recertification teams. He began his career in higher education as a recruiter responsible for general admissions with a special focus on increasing the matriculation of African American students, and developing a progressive scholarship initiative. Dr. Calvin D. Jamison, Sr. Dr. Calvin D. Jamison, Sr. is a native of Martinsville, Virginia. He completed his formal education in public schools in Martinsville-Henry County, Virginia. He completed his B.S., M.A. and Ed. D degrees from Virginia Tech. He has over 25 years of experience in higher education, corporate America, and local government. He is presently the Vice President for Business Affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas, and is a Clinical Professor in the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences. Prior to assuming his present role, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Hampton University. Most recently, he served on SACS accreditation and NCAA recertification teams. He began his career in higher education as a recruiter responsible for general admissions with a special focus on increasing the matriculation of African American students, and developing a progressive scholarship initiative. He developed Project Pipeline, a mentorship triad targeting the enrollment of middle school students in higher education. His FAME (Faculty Administrator Mentor Enhancement) program was a model for involving faculty and administrators in the retention of students. He has served as Assistant to the President at Virginia Tech, and held faculty and administrative positions at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Jamison is the former CEO/City Manager of the City of Richmond Virginia, where he managed a workforce of 4500 and a budget of over 1.2 billion. During his tenure, the city experienced an investment of $4 billion in new development and received three bond rating upgrades in two years, a first for the City of Richmond. He was also the former Director of Human Resource Development for the Ethyl Corporation, a Fortune 1000 company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to teaching in the graduate programs in higher education administration and public administration, Dr. Jamison has been a fundraiser and community volunteer. He is a former “Cadmus Leader in Residence”, in the Jepson School of Leadership at the University of Richmond. He is the former chair of the Virginia Tourism Corporation Board of Directors, past President of the Arts Council of Richmond, and former chair of the Greater Richmond Convention Center Authority. He is the author of “Developing Change Leaders” ASTD 1997. In 2006, he received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from Virginia Tech, and in 2008 was appointed to the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors by the Governor of Virginia. Dr. Jamison is a member of NACUBO, SACUBO, NFBPA, and Sigma Pi Phi, Alpha Beta Boule. He is married and the father of three children.
