Z2nd Member for Christiansted Town (Canegata) entered the mceeting and took the ehair as Secretary to the Coun- cil. Ist Member tor KFrederiksted Town [ Coulter] would like to have the Ordi- nance creating the Commission to sit on the Cotton Commissicn read. Accordingly the Secretary [ Canegatal read the Ordinance. Ist Member for Frederiksted Town [Coulter[ remarked: There might be some misiale as to the two men to be ap- pointed as Mr. Thornberg was away from the island last year. 2nd Member for Christiansted Town [Cancgata] answered the last speaker and said, This is a very «asy matter to decide; it vou get the minutes of the Council you ecan see what vou did last year. The Council’s record book was pro- duced and it showed that Mr. A. V. Nel- thropp and Mr. S, Jergensen were cleet ed on June 10, 1919, to serve on the Cot- ton Commission. 2nd Appointed Member [ Noll| proposed that fourrmen be elected to serve on the Cotto., Cammission. Ist Maember for Frederiksted Country Distriet [fAndersen] seconded the Mem ber’s proposal. The Member’s proposal was 1 opted The Esuncil then proceeded to vote for foummen to serve on the Cotton Com missiord. 11 vaging tickets were ha .ded in. Electtsd were: Mr. S. Jorgensen, M A. V. Nelthropp and Mr. H. Madsen with Rfvotes respectively: Mr H. Kier and Mr. W. L. Pentheny received 7 votes respectiwwvely and Mr. F. Andersen re- ceivediane vote. Ist Appointed Member {(Hendersen) and 4tk Member for Christiansted Townr (Ramssy) entered the meeting. Themw was a tie vote between Mr. Pentheny and Mr. Kier and a new voting had tostake place, 13 vating tickets were handed in _ Eieated was Mr Thornberg with 7 votes Mr. Kier received 5 votes and Mr. Pertheny received 1 vote. The Council then proceeded with dis- cussiom on item 2. The+ Chairman remarked: The Com- mittee appointed to repcrt on this matter met. this morning and has sent in its repersi which I will lay before you.
