ACTNO, 7242 BILL NO. 29-0002 TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2011 An Act posthumously honoring the late Elmo Delano Roebuck Sr. and renaming a portion of “Route 30 from the Nelson Mandela Circle to Donkey Hill” “The Elmo D. Roebuck, Sr. Drive” --0-—- WHEREAS, the late Elmo Delano Roebuck, Sr. was born on St. Thomas on October 31, 1934, to the union of Ector Roebuck and Nathalia King Roebuck; and WHEREAS, Elmo Roebuck grew up in Pollyberg and Garden Street, where he attended the Leonard Dober, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln Elementary Schools, and which he graduated from with honors in the sixth grade; and WHEREAS, Elmo Roebuck attended Charlotte Amalie High School where he participated in the Drama Club, softball, baseball, Basketball, and track teams; and where he graduated Valedictorian of the Class of 1952; and WHEREAS, Elmo Roebuck entered Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia, self-financed his education by working as a dishwasher, busboy, short-order cook, clerk, and waiter, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree: in Bus …
