IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS DIVISION OF ST. THOMAS & ST. JOHN VIPD NOVEMBER 2024 STATUS REPORT COME NOW, the Virgin Islands Police Department and Territory of the Virgin Islands (collectively, “VIPD”), by and through the undersigned counsel, and hereby submit the November 2024 Status Report, as ordered by the Court. On November 14, 2024, VIPD’s Policy 6.5 regarding Body Worn Cameras, as revised, was signed and distributed to all personnel. VIPD is also evaluating revisions to Policy 2.7 which relate to its audit and inspection protocols. On November 20, 2024, the VIPD Internal Affairs Bureau personnel and F.I.T. members were expected to attend an hour and a half Virtual Zoom Training with Legal & Liability Risk Management Institute in reference to “Officer Involved Shooting Investigations” Crucial Considerations Often Neglected, which will also distributed to all members of the FIT Team and the FRB. On November 15, 2024, VIPD and the Independent Monitoring Team (IMT) met to discuss the agenda for the upcoming leadership summit scheduled for December 10 -11, 2024. …
