Acevedo to serve on the Governing Board of the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA), representing the District of St. Croix. The nomination was submitted today to Senate President Milton Potter for consideration and confirmation by the 36th Legislature. Mr. Acevedo, a retired WAPA employee, qualifies for the position as a non-government member of the Board and brings more than two decades of engineering experience with the Authority. He also has over 25 years of additional experience in government utility operations, oversight, and private-sector drafting and engineering consultation. In his nomination letter, Governor Bryan underscored Mr. Acevedo’s deep institutional knowledge of WAPA’s internal operations and challenges, stating, “As a retired WAPA employee, he has firsthand knowledge of the Authority’s operations, challenges, and opportunities. Additionally, he brings 25 years of experience in government utility operations, oversight, and private drafting and engineering consultation. He is committed to ensuring sustainable development, financial oversight, and community engagement to enhance utility services and infrastructure.” Mr. Acevedo’s nomination would fill the current vacancy on the WAPA Governing Board designated for a representative from the St. Croix district. His appointment is expected to bolster the Board’s technical and operational insight as WAPA continues its efforts to improve energy reliability, financial management, and long-term sustainability in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Governor expressed confidence in Mr. Acevedo’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the Authority’s mission, especially as it advances key initiatives related to renewable energy and infrastructure modernization. # # # TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
