Muilingar Ireland, April 27cth.—ight- ing broke out this morning between the regular and th2 irregular Irish Repubd- lican forces stationed here, in anficipa- tion of Mr. De Valera’s anti-treaty meet- ing 01 Saturday. Hostilities continued for two hours, both sides using rifles and machine guns. Various houses were commandeered by the regular or provi sional Govt. troops, who are reported to have iaunched an . attack on the irreg- ulars. Great excitement prevails. The fichting began at five a. m. aud ended about seven o’clock, one man on each side being killed and it is beiieved six wounded. Buildings in the neighbour- hood bear evidence of the fray. Genoa, April27th.—The transportation commission in its final session urgently recommended to the powers the adopting of all possible measures, in concert, to improve the transport system of Europ-=, and the League of Nations is being ask- ed to invite the nations, whether mem- bers or non-members of the League, to work together in technical matters for furthering the cause of tra=sport. The experts insisted that important things had already been done at Genoa in the way of improving econditions, tnese largely taking the form of arranging for future conventions, and they pointed out that the present convention, including thirty four states, had brought about a knowledgze of actual conditions in Europe which they were certain would prove bepeficial for future efforts towards ameliorations.
