URSUANT to order from the Govern- ment, the Tax Commission for St. Croix will meet at the undarmention- ed days to receive information in writing relating to the taxes for the present year: For the Town of Chriztianstedt at the Despatching Secietary’s Office at 10 o’clock a. m, viz: TUESDAY, December 12 for the in- habitants of King’s Company, Queen’s, Strand, North and West Sireers, also Western Suburbs. WEDNESDAY, December 13 for the inhabitants of Smith, Western and Ulke Lanes, Watergut, Market and Prince’s Streets, King’s and Queen’s Cross Streets, Church, Hospital and Green Streets and the Eastern Suburbs. THURSDAY, December 14 for the in- babitants of Hill, East, Lagoon, Little Hospital, New and Fisher Streets. For the Country: FRIDAY, December 15 for the inhabi- tants in both East End Quarters at the Stock Estate Sally’s Fancy at 11 o’clock a, i, SATURDAY, December 16 for the in- habitants in Co>mpany’s Quarter at the Agricultural Kxperiment Station at Es- tate Anna’s Hope at 11 o’clock a. m., MONDAY, December 18 for the in- habitants in Queen’s King’s, ard North- side Quarter, Ltr. B. at the Station at King’s Hill at 10 o’clock a. m., TUESDAY, December 19 for the in- habitants in Prince’s Quarter in the School of Estate Diamond at 2 o’clock p. THURSDAY, December 21 for the in- habitants in West End Quarter and Northside Quarter Ltr. A., at the Police Office in Frederiksted at 10 o’clock a. m. For the Town of Frederiksted: same day for the inhabitants of Strand, King’s and Queen’s Streets. FRIDAY, December 22 for the inhabi- tants of Prince’s, Hospital, New Streets, King’s Cross Street, Market, Hill and Lagoon Streets, all at the said Police Office at 10 o’clock a. m. Owners of estates are to specify in writing the exact number of acres in sugar cultivation, in cotton cultivation, in other cultivation and in pasture. Also information concerning the buildings on the estate and appropriation thereof, especially if there are rooms rented to other than laborers permanently em- ployed, and the length and width of the said rooms and the rental thereof. if any portion of the land is considered to be useless, and yields no revenue to the owner, the number of acres of such portion must be stated in th2 taxlist and a certificate on oath, issued by the pro- prietor and two B rghers resting in the S 2% ) % v i s guarter, and furihermore attested by tha Quarter Officer, and delivered to the Commission. Owners of empty lois in town are re- quested to fill in the taxlists accurately, giving the irformation desired, in order that it may be ascertained if any bnew buildings bave been erected on the property during the year, also stat- ing the time when such buildings were first occupied. In order that reduction can be obtained in the taxes for dwelling hcuses, ware- houses and she s, which have be2n un- occupied for t{wo months and upwards, the Commission would particularly draw the attention of those parties desirin_g; reduction, that it is very necessary In such coses that certificates to that eifcet be produced, stating: that the houses, sheds. ete. have beep vacant during said period. IT MUST BE SPECIALLY OB- v SERBVED: Persons neglecting to procure the information and proof described by the regulation in the above shape, time and place, must ascribe to their own neglect all losses result- ing therefrom. As several planters in the last years have neglected to meet at the fixed time and place to deliver their taxlists, the Commission begs to announce that taxlists will not be received for any quarter, at any other time or place than above stated. In case persons neglect to deliver a taxlist for any estate in due time, the Commission will, be- fore closing the meeting, assess the tax for said estate according to . the best of its knowledge. Taxliists which are forwarded later to the Commission, will, together with a list of those estates that have omit- ted to send in their taxlists, be transmitted to the Government, in order that other measures be taken. Blanks for taxlists will be distributed some days previous to the meeting of the Tax Commission and are required to be accurately filled out by the parties concerned and delivered to the Commis- sion on the day which is fixed for each street in the tcwn and each quarter in the country.
