ACT NO.6640 BILL NO. 25-0094 TWENTY-FIFTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 2003 To amend Act No. 6233, section 1, subsection (a), by reducing the number of community service hours required for high school students ---(--- BE IT ENACTED by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Act No. 6233, section 1, is amended in the following instances; (a) Subsection (a) is amended in the following instances: (1) In the first sentence after the word “Program” where it appears insert ‘for all public high schools in the territory’; (2) In the third sentence delete “maximum of 1200 hours or a”; (3) At the end thereof insert a new sentence to read as follows: “ ‘Community Service’ means services volunteered by students or student organizations to benefit the Virgin Islands community or its institutions. ‘Civic education means’ the multiple processes through which students acquire the knowledge, skills and dispositions that are needed for effective and productive democratic citizenship”. …
