RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To Create a School of Agriculture WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands was awarded land grant status by the U.S. Congress in 1972; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands seeks to align with other land grant institutions in creating seamless coordination of its agriculture, academic, research, and outreach programs; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands, with support from the Legislature of the Virgin Islands, intends to create and offer new academic programs in the field of agriculture; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands has outstanding research programs in the field of agriculture through the Agriculture Experiment Station; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands has outstanding outreach programs in the field of agriculture through the Cooperative Extension Services. RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To Create a School of Agriculture WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands was awarded land grant status by the U.S. Congress in 1972; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands seeks to align with other land grant institutions in creating seamless coordination of its agriculture, academic, research, and outreach programs; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands, with support from the Legislature of the Virgin Islands, intends to create and offer new academic programs in the field of agriculture; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands has outstanding research programs in the field of agriculture through the Agriculture Experiment Station; and WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands has outstanding outreach programs in the field of agriculture through the Cooperative Extension Services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY THAT: 1. The creation of a School of Agriculture, which houses agriculture, academic programs, agricultural research programs, and agriculture outreach programs is hereby approved. 2. The President is authorized to take such action as is needed to implement this resolution. 3. This resolution shall become effective June 20, 2020. CERTIFICATION The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands and adopted at its meeting on Saturday, June 20, 2020, as recorded in the minutes of the said meeting.
