The Post Office desires to bring to the " notice of the publie that the sale of War- . savings Cer ificate Stamps of the series . of 1919 will cease at close of business on December 31, 1919, and that War-Savings ' Stamps of the series of 1920 wiil be plac- | ed on sale beginninzg January ‘l, 1920. . The 1919 stamps POSITIVELY WILL . NOT be sold after December 31, and to avoid disappointment as has proved the | case when previous issues were no long- er obtainable, patrons and those wishing | to complete collections, are advised to se- | cure their stamps before that date. The 1920 issue of W, 5. S. is printed on white . paper with white lettering on a red | ground, and contains a photogravure of . It was put to the vote and carried: that i the amendment be furthered. By unanimous consent of the Council Ist Discussion closed. i 2nd Member for Christiansted Town (Canegata) remarked: My. Government havirng given consent Z2nd Discussion was open«d. 2nd Member for Christicnsted Town [Canegata] remarked: Mr. Chairmran. t Just. before the meeting the Hon. . 2nd Appointed Member spcke to me ' about this matter and he zave me . some idea, but Ido not believe that the means suggested by him would meet the . wishes of the community. My personal opinion is, the suggestion made by him will not meet with the wishes ot the . community. : 2nd Appointed Member [Noll] was of the opinion that it would be better to use the ambulancé insiead of the horse and ~ hearse proposed. | Ist- Member for Frederiksted Town . [Coulter] remarked: Mr. Chairman. I do not think it practicable to use the am- ~ bulance, it may conflict very much with ~ the use it is being put to at present. The ambulan ¢ may be out in the coun- ~ try at the time it is required and don’t ~ return for hours after. 1 do not think it practicable at all. Ist Member tor Christiansted Country District [Staukemann] would like eto - know whether any provision is made in the Bill for a driver for the hearse? 2nd Member. for Christiansted Town ~ (Canegata) replied: The grave diggers - are permanently employed and can be used to drive the hearse, | 2nd Appointed Member (N-l) re- marked: Mr. Chairman. Ido not care to nffer an amendment to this bill, but it seems to me that the Police Depart- ment is not the proper department te charge with this duty. In Frederiksted the Police Depaitment is not maintain- ing any animals. 1t seems to me t at the Saritary Department isin a better position to take care of this matter. 1 think it would be more feasable to charge the Sanitary Department with this duty. 2nd Member for Christiansted Town
