Publicati üblication. g @ Tis hereby made known, that whereas tue following Members of the Colonial Counecil, elected by the Town and Su- burbs of Christiansted will have to retire from the Council in accordance with Art. 17 of the Colonial Law, viz: Ist Member Mr. Wm. S. Abramson, ard b ‘“* Wm. L. Pentheny Government has resolved in virtue cf Art. 28 of the Colonial LLaw that the GENERAL ELECTION of members to the Council in lieu of the said gentlemen shall take place in the Court House of Christiansted Jurisdiction on FRIDAY THE 6TH MAY a. c. The polling wil commence at 1 o’clock p. m. and in acecordance with Art. 30 of the Colonial Law will close at 4 o’clock p. m. at the earliest. At the election no one can be consider- ed unless he has announced himself as a candidate or has been so announced by one of the electors oft e electoral dis- trict. The announcement of candidature shall jeirher b 2 made in writing or by personal attendance of the announcer before (he electoral board. Crowe, Secretary of the Labor Union to the effect that no meeting of any nature is allowed on the Labor Union Estates without permission in writing, signed by the Secretary of the Union. 1 am a member of the Supreire Counecil of the Labor Union, and I know of no provision in our Constitution or Bye Laws giving the Secretary any power to put such a notice in the papers. The only person vested with any form of executive au:hority is the President, and even he has not yet been given the powers of lite and death over the members of the Institation.
