ACT NO, 6683 BILL NO. 25-0224 TWENTY-FIFTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 2004 To amend Title 32, Virgin Islands Cede, section 435(f) of the V.I. Casino and Resort Control Act of 1995, which requires that the Government's 25% interest in a hotel must have been in existence prior to January 13, 1995, in order for the hotel to automatically qualify and receive a casino license and for other related purposes -—{}-- WHEREAS, the island of St. Croix is experiencing an economic downtum, and WHEREAS, initiatives must be taken to revitalize the cconemy on the island of St. Croix; and WHEREAS, to cncourage development and investment on the island of St. Croix, the public and private sectors must work together; and WHEREAS, private investors have expressed interest in purchasing and/or reconstructing cxisting hotels which would become more economically viable as a result of receiving a casino license, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED by the Legislature of ihe Virgin Islands: SECTION J.
