ACTNO. 8308 BILL NO. 33-0292 THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2020 An Act providing for referendum vote on convening a constitutional convention to consider adopting the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands or portions of it as the Constitution of the Virgin Islands ---0--- WHEREAS, the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands of 1954 has been the governing body of laws by which the residents of the Virgin Islands are governed on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands has served the people of the Virgin Islands well, and there has been no outcry as to its applicability to the people of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands has proved to be a durable document that has had less than ten amendments since its enactment; and WHEREAS, the people of the Virgin Islands should have the right to democratically determine whether or not to allow the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands to become Constitution of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the congressional authorization for t …
