NEW SANTURCE CARRETERA TO ' BE FINISHED THIS YEAR. ‘ | Sections Os New Street From San ‘ Antonio Bridge to Martin Pena are Already Completed. With the construction of the new car- retera which is to run parallell with the main carretera, pro-erly known as Ponce de Leon avenue, and which is to extend from Miramar to Martin Pena, Sant rce vill take on a new aspect, and residents may be justified in hoping for better ' things in the way of traffic safety at least. The congested condition of ‘he main carretera has been a problem f)r many years pucti g the lives of school children, . and in fact of the average pedestrian, in . jeopardy and making the avoiding of . motor collisions 2lmost impossikle. It is believed that the new carrctera will do - much to relieve this situation, und as it is to be a mode n city stree: with side-* walks, and parking, it will add largely ' to the appearance of that part of the L -ecily, : Im a report irom the office of the Com- . missioner of the Interior it is stated that | *‘the construction of this czrreiera was - begun the latter part of last September, - and the work of construction has been - -carried on as rapidly as possible in spite . of the difficcities which have ar'sen such . ~ as the trouble of obtaining marerials and ~ strikes.’”’ . : This carretera is to branch out from . the main carretera near to San Antonio . bridge. From there it will cross the trolley Jine and .continue west-ward to Miramar as far as Congress <treet. As--
