CALL FOR PAPERS The 7th Caribbean Beekeeping Congress and the 2nd Caribbean Bee College will be held at the University of the Virgin Islands, Kingshill, St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands from May 26- 30, 2014. This collaborative event is being jointly sponsored by the University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service, Cooperative Extension Service (UVI/CES), Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture (VIDOA), Association of Caribbean Beekeepers’ Organizations (ACBO), East Caribbean Bee Research and Extension Center (ECBREC) at the St. Georges University (SGU) and the Honey Bee Research and Extension Lab (HBREL) at the University of Florida (UF) The organizers are delighted to extend an invitation to you to present a paper/poster on any of the following topics: A beekeeping research project undertaken in the Caribbean Bees and human health Bee botany; nectar and pollen source in the Caribbean Conservation; the role of bees in maintaining Caribbean biodiversity Hive management and the control of pests and diseases Intensive vs extensive beekeeping - a Caribbean perspective Production and marketing of value-added hive products for local sustainability The impact of pesticides on bee behavior and bee products. Please e-mail an abstract of your paper/poster, (saved as a word document), to CBC.CBCVI@gmail.com by March 18th 2014. Notification of the papers accepted will be issued one week after the deadline for submission.
