USVI BUREAU OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH P a g e 1 Highlights 2011  There were 2,687,952 total visitors’ that came to Territory’s shores in 2011, or a 5.4 percent increase over last year’s arrivals of 2,550,504.  Cruise passenger arrivals reached a milestone of 2,008,991.  Air visitor arrivals closed 2011 with a modest drop of 1.8 percent from 691,558 in 2010 to 678,961 in 2011.  Major carrier seats direct annual seats were 13,623 compared to 12,567 direct seats in calendar year 2010, an increase of 5.5 percent  The Territory’s hotel annual occupancy rate decreased 4.9 percentage points from 57.0 percent in 2010 to 52.1 percent in 2011.  Accommodation establishments reported 734,941 guests stayed in the Territory--a 9.9 percent decreased under the 816,103 guests who stayed during the same twelve-month period in 2010. …
