GOVERNOR MAPP ATTENDS EAGLE SCOUT CEREMONY FOR VIRGIN ISLANDER PHILLIP EDWARDS (February 10, 2015‐St. Croix, US Virgin Islands) Governor Kenneth E Mapp was proud to be amongst the friends, family members and fellow scouts of troop 7227 as they gathered to honor and celebrate Phillip Edwards as he achieved his Eagle Scout status on Saturday evening. The Governor was touched by the support from the community and the drive of this young Virgin Islander to create a better community through his achievements as a Scout. Governor Mapp reflected upon his scouting career and his own achieve‐ ment as a Life Scout, as he related to the struggles and persistence necessary to rise to the level of an Eagle Scout. …

0041‐2015                                                                                          February 9, 2015    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                 Government House Communication Contacts:                                                                                   Kimberly Jones, Director ‐ 340‐332‐9282                         Samuel Topp, Deputy Director – 340‐693‐4308                         (Please do not publish phone numbers. Thank you.)  GOVERNOR MAPP ATTENDS EAGLE SCOUT CEREMONY   FOR VIRGIN ISLANDER PHILLIP EDWARDS    (February 10, 2015‐St. Croix, US Virgin Islands)  Governor Kenneth E Mapp was  proud to be amongst the friends, family members and fellow scouts of troop 7227  as they gathered to honor and celebrate Phillip Edwards as he achieved his Eagle  Scout status on Saturday evening.    The Governor was touched by the support from the community and the drive of  this young Virgin Islander to create a better community through his achievements  as a Scout.  Governor Mapp reflected upon his scouting career and his own achieve‐ ment as a Life Scout, as he related to the struggles and persistence necessary to  rise to the level of an Eagle Scout.  The governor then vowed to do his part in en‐ hancing scouting throughout the territory, engaging government in a “Career Day”  where Scouts will have the opportunity to work in places of authority for the day,  just as he did at their age.    Governor Mapp congratulated the leadership of Troop 7227 on their fostering of  now sixteen Eagle Scouts from St. Croix.  “I am very proud of all of your achieve‐ ments, and I am humbled by the love and support that is evident here in this room  tonight.  I can see great things for you in your future, as you have already set the  bar at your young age, Phillip Edwards, congratulations on your acquiring the cov‐ eted status of Eagle Scout.” The Governor then presented Mr. Edwards with a sig‐ nature Virgin Islands watch inscribed from the people of the Virgin Islands.  # # #
