ACT NO, 7002 BILL NO. 27-0009 TWENTY-SEVENTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2008 An Act amending 34 V.LC., chapter 15 to enact the Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention Act of 2008, amending 29 V.LC., chapter 15, section 919 relating to the membership of the Public Finance Authority; amending 33 V.I.C., section 2305 providing for a minimum property tax; amending 33 V.I.C., section 3007 relating to the Public Parking Lot Fund and making several appropriations ---0--- WHEREAS, elder and dependent adults may be subjected to abuse, neglect, or abandonment; and WHEREAS, special attention should be directed to the needs and problems of elder and dependent adults, recognizing that these persons constitute a significant and identifiable segment of the population, and that they are more subject to risks of abuse, neglect, and abandonment; and WHEREAS, a number of elder and dependent adults may have disabilities and other emotional and verbal limitations that often leave them vulnerable to abuse and incapable of asking for help or protection; and WHEREAS, most elder and …
