Owing to the heevy fog tle Swedish steamer Elderado hove to and the Spanish stcurer Legonia crashed irto her., While the two vesse!s were locked the Eldorado’s crew of 13 climbed aboard the Begonia and soon afterwards the Lldorado went to the bot- tom. Later tke British steamer Sheridan coming throvgh the fog, Lit the DPegonia amidships and as the latter bezan to f{iil her beats weie lewered and her own crew and that of the Eidaracdoe, totallirg 43 men, reached the Sheridan, whose captain sent a raaio message to Yar- mouth, from which port tugs were des- patched and took off the survivors., The Sheridan was considerably smashed in her forepeak, but was able to proceed without assistance.
