This condition of the fish market has been brought about by sheer profiteering, and is seriously engaging the attantion of a large major- ity of the veople who realize chat starva- ticn, pure and s:mple, faces them if tlie cost of fresh fish is not controlled and limitations placed upon the ungoverned scope of which alarming advaatage is being t- ken. When it is understood th t fish, for the reasonable price of which this town was particularly reputed, has increasedin cosi within the last year, by nearly 1000% in some instances, it cannot be doubted that there is due cause for grave apprel:ension, and this ques- tion is brought to the notice of the Food Commission which has hitherto not in- ciuded fresn fish among the articles of AUCTION.
