Potter, Carla J. Joseph and Hubert L. Frederick Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. Act No. 9028 is amended as follows: 2 (a) By adding the following section 25: 3 “SECTION 25. The sum of $2,300,000 is appropriated from the General Fund of 4 the Treasury of the Government of the Virgin Islands in the fiscal year ending September 5 30, 2026, to the University of the Virgin Islands for the University of the Virgin Islands 6 Scholarship Revolving Fund to provide tuition scholarships for residents of the Virgin 7 Islands pursuing post-secondary education at the University of the Virgin Islands.”; and 8 (b) By striking “$34,977,962” in the two instances it appears and inserting 9 “$37,277,962”. 10 2 SECTION 2. Title 17 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 15, section 190dd, subsection (j), 1 paragraph (2) is amended by striking “of $3,000,000 from the Internal Revenue Matching Fund” 2 and inserting “not to exceed the sum of $3,000,000 as an annual obligation from the General 3 Fund of the Treasury of the Government of the Virgin Islands for the University of the Virgin 4 Islands budget”. 5 BILL SUMMARY 6 This bill amends Act No. 9028 by including a $2,300,000 appropriation for the University 7 of the Virgin Islands Scholarship Revolving Fund and amending title 17 Virgin Islands Code, 8 chapter 15, section 190dd, subsection(j)(2) to change a funding source for the University Virgin 9 Islands Scholarship Revolving Fund. 10 BR26-1142/May 22, 2026/SLR/Revised/May 27, 2026/SLR 11
