“THE GREAT DEBATE” AN EDUCATIONAL FORUM FOR VOTERS Does the Virgin Islands need to ratify a constitution before defining its political relationship with the United States of America? Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes wishes to remind the public of its upcoming “Great Debate”, on Thursday, May 4, 2023. The debate, an educational forum for voters, is one of several special events in commemoration of the Elections System 60th Anniversary, will be held at the University of the Virgin Islands Administration Building at 6:30pm. The debate is a taped event; therefore, doors will open for guests and audience at 5:45pm and close promptly at 6:15pm. Entry beyond this time will take place during intermission. Two teams will sound off on the topic: Is it time for our own constitution or to become an independent country, commonwealth, or state? What’s best for Virgin Islanders?
