ACTNOI 8183 BILL NO. 33-0027 THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2019 An Act amending title 17, chapter 7, section 61a of the Virgin Islands Code to allow the Department of Education greater flexibility in setting the school calendar upon the declaration of a state of emergency ---0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature ofthe Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 17, chapter 7 of the Virgin Islands Code is amended in the following instances: (1) In section 61a add a new subsection (d) to read as follows: “(d) In the event of the declaration of a state of emergency, the Department or Education may reasonably adjust the number of hours of pupil instruction mandated by subsection (c) of this section.’ (2) Add a new section 66 to read as follows: “66. Disaster Response Plan The Dcpartment of Education must submit a Disaster Response Plan by July 30, 2019, and by March 30th of every subsequent year to the appropriate committee of the Legislature of the Virgin Islands. …
