RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To approve a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program with a major in Fine Arts and concentrations in Music Performance and Theatre. WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program was initially vetted and approved by University stakeholders in 2006; and WHEREAS, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences proposes to enhance the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program with the addition of new courses and revisions to the General Education requirements; and WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program will allow the University to continue to create skilled performers and technicians that will be critical to the overall success of artistic endeavors in the territory and beyond; and WHEREAS, on January 26, 2006, the Curriculum Committee of the University approved the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program; and WHEREAS, on April 6, 2006, the faculty of the University approved the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program; and WHEREAS, on March 21, 2019, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences resubmitted …

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To approve a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program with a major in Fine Arts and concentrations in Music Performance and Theatre. WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program was initially vetted and approved by University stakeholders in 2006; and WHEREAS, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences proposes to enhance the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program with the addition of new courses and revisions to the General Education requirements; and WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program will allow the University to continue to create skilled performers and technicians that will be critical to the overall success of artistic endeavors in the territory and beyond; and WHEREAS, on January 26, 2006, the Curriculum Committee of the University approved the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program; and WHEREAS, on April 6, 2006, the faculty of the University approved the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program; and WHEREAS, on March 21, 2019, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences resubmitted the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program to the Academic Research and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees for approval; and WHEREAS, on June 13, 2019, the Academic Research and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees voted to recommend to the Board of Trustees the establishment of the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY THAT: 1. The establishment of the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program is hereby approved. 2. The President is authorized to take such action as is necessary to implement this resolution. 3. This resolution shall become effective June 22, 2019. CERTIFICATION The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands and adopted at its meeting on Saturday, June 22, 2019, as recorded in the minutes of the said meeting.
