ACTNO. 8281 BILL NO. 33-0127 THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2020 An Act posthumously honoring and commending the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces; naming the roundabout road circle located in downtown Cruz Bay, St. John “The Veterans Circle”; and appropriating $20,000 to the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts to commission a monument in memory of the veterans ---0--- WHEREAS, Virgin Islanders were granted full United States citizenship in 1927, and several Virgin Islanders enlisted into the United States Armed Forces immediately after receiving United States citizenship; WHEREAS, during World War II the Territory of the Virgin Islands petitioned the United States Congress to include residents of St. John in the military draft into the United States Armed Forces, and the Congress acceded to the request; WHEREAS, Virgin Islands veterans have given their lives for the protection of peace, liberty and democracy; WHEREAS, there is no monument in St. …
