Kullee, of New Jersey, who is connected with the firm »f J. Ros- enberg & Co. arrived heve last Tuesday by the s.s. Parima, and took over the tobaceo factory. On Monday he started work,‘making cigars, with a small staff of 12 girls. Itis expected that four or five hundred of them will be used for the making while about the same num- ber will be used for the stripping of the tobacco. St. Thomians have always dressed well and every improvement like this must be welcome. In the West Indies, it is only in Porto Rico and the other large islands such as Barbados and Trinidad that there are any of these electric hemstitching machines. It was while Mr. David O. Bornn, the proprietor of the firm, was in Trinidad | ip 1919 that he became interested in this machine. The Singer Sewing Machine Co., for whom our friends are agents, are generally conceded as the premier builders of sewing machines, and this one, manufactured by them, is the last word in its line.
