UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION PURPOSE: To replace the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Physics degree with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. WHEREAS, the University offers two degree programs in chemistry: the B.A. in Chemistry, and the B.S. in Chemistry with Physics (CWP), and WHEREAS, over the past ten years the interest of students has shifted from the physico- chemical fields to the biomedical fields, and WHEREAS, the B.S. degree in Chemistry would be less costly than the B.S. degree in Chemistry with Physics, and WHEREAS, the needs of a majority of the students who are interested in chemistry can be met by either the B.A. or the B.S. degree in Chemistry, and WHEREAS, the Faculty Organization has reviewed a proposal prepared by the Division of Science and Mathematics to replace the B.S. degree in Chemistry with Physics with a B.S. degree in Chemistry, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees approve a new degree program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry to replace the Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry with Physics. CERTIFICATION The undersigned does hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of the resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands adopted at its meeting on June 1, 1996 and recorded in the minutes of said meeting.
