Colenrd, the Per- manent Field Representative {or the Virgin Island Chapters, arrived from St Thomas Dee 11th., and the executive office of the Red Cross will shortly be ovened in Christiansted. Permissior has kindly been given by the Muricipal Com- mirte~ and by the local Chapter to occu- py the rooms in the Municipa! Building unde» the Post Gffice formerly used by the Christiansted Chapter of the Red Cross; and Miss Colcord’s sceretary and assistant, Miss ¥ irchild, will arrive this week to assisti beginning the work. Chairman of the St. Croix Char- ter, to whicn all persons in both towns whoare interested in the KRed Cross pro- gram will be invited. In 1917 and 1918, $44,000 was thus given for the three Municipal Hospitale in St. I'homas and St. Croix, and in August of this year an additional $15,000 w=as an- propriat-d {or this purpose. These gifis directly benefit everyone o. the two Is- lands who receives treatment through the Municipai Hospitals. 2. Supplying a Schooi Nurse to work with the Lepartments of Eduecation and Health in improving the physical health of the school childeen of St. Croix. An experienced Public Health Nurse, Miss Florence R. Freeman, has been appcint- ed to the post, and has already begun her work. The Despatching Secretary has placed a room at ner disposal in the wovernment Building, whien will be her headquarters for tne present.
