George Acting Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Labor effective  Monday, June 25 . George, who currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Division of Personnel, replaces outgoing Labor Commissioner Catherine Hendry. Hendry advised the Governor that she is accepting the position to serve as Legal Counsel for the V.I. Port Authority. “Commissioner Hendry has worked diligently on behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands in a tough job leading a department left in shambles by her predecessor,” the Governor said. I thank her for her service to the people of the Virgin Islands and wish her well in her new role at the Port Authority.” The Governor said he was pleased to welcome Ms. Averil George to the cabinet. “She is a strong leader with tremendous talent,” he said. “Her work and her success at the Division of Personnel makes her an ideal candidate to lead the Department of Labor. There is much to do at this critical department at a time when we are growing the economy and witnessing an expansion of new jobs in the private and public sectors.” TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
