ACTNO. 7304 BILL NO. 29-0135 Twenty-Ninth Legislature Of The Virgin Islands Regular Session 2011 An Act honoring and commending Emile Christopher Berry and naming the Dorothea Fire Station “The Emile Berry Fire Station and Multipurpose Center” ---0--- WHEREAS, Emile Christopher Berry was born December 22, 1943, to Louis and Angelina Berry; and WHEREAS, Emile was one of fifteen children and grew up on the Northside of St. Thomas, learning the traditional and cultural ways of the French people; and WHEREAS, Emile spent many hours as a child working with his father on the farm; and WHEREAS, Emile learned how to clear the land for planting by brush burning and learned the importance of how to manage and control the fire by gauging the wind’s directions and speed; a skill that would prove to be beneficial in the years to come; and WHEREAS, Emile attended the Robert Herrick School (renamed Joseph Sibilly School in 1973) and continued his education at Saints Peter and Paul School; and WHEREAS, Emile was drafted into the United States Army in September of 1965 at the age of 22; and WHEREAS, …
