‘ACT NO.6504 BILL NO. 24-0226 TWENTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 2002 To rename the Savan Community Center “The Romeo Malone Community Center” . ---0--- WHEREAS, Mr. Romeo Antonio Malone was born in Savan on July 24, 1923, to Joshua and Mary Parrott Malone; and WHEREAS, at age sixteen, Mr. Romeo A. Malone left school in the 10" grade to join the Civilian Conservation Corps, “CCC”; and WHEREAS, he studied heavy equipment, carpentry and mechanics, subsequently working for the “Seabees” and the Arondel Construction Company as a carpenter; and WHEREAS, in 1944 Mr. Malone was drafted into the United States Army where he served for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Technician Fourth Grade (Sergeant); and WHEREAS, upon his discharge from the Army, Mr. Malone traveled to Chicago where he studied mechanics at Chicago Motive Trade Institute; and WHEREAS, after Mr. Malone graduated on December 21, 1948, he then moved to New York where he lived for 2 years;.and WHEREAS, in 1950 Mr. …
